Nantucket Sound

Nantucket Sound is like a triangle – 30 miles wide and 25 miles long. It’s enclosed by Cape Cod on the north, Nantucket on the south, and Martha’s Vineyard on the west. Protected by shallow shoals on the south and east, it’s like a big, salt water lake. Bathed by the northern reaches of the Gulf Stream, it has calm, warm-water beaches, and great fishing, boating and swimming.

Welcome to 3

You know the three most important things in real estate. On Cape Cod that means:

Location – Water Location – Beach Location – Views

This house sits right on Nantucket Sound and has its own sandy beach. You’ll be awed with water views from dozens of windows – and decks on three different levels.

35 Shore Road

The front views on the left show the house in daylight – and glowing at night. The walkway to the front door takes you by a bubbling fountain and fish pond – and beautiful bushes, flowers and trees. When you walk up the stone steps and reach the front door, you’ll see all the way through the great room – and right out to the beach and the water.

It hits you the instant you open the front door. You are living right on Nantucket Sound. Looking from the front through to the back, this great room has views from so many windows. You see the deck, the grounds, the water, the sky, a sailboat on its mooring – swaying with the wind and the waves. It takes awhile, but you will catch your breath and look around at this truly great room – an enormous front-to-back living area open to your waterfront kitchen.

It’s a Great BIG Room with many amenities: tile floor, built-in book shelves (hiding the TV), a see-through two-sided gas fireplace, a built-in sound system, and an indoor waterfall . Yes, you will need to find someone who does windows – and not Microsoft. Look at all those kitchen windows, the quad sliders, and the transom windows in the front. Foyer, kitchen, dining areas, and conversation and TV area – all in this open, spacious, truly great room. ck Great Room

Wrap-Around

Most houses have a deck or a patio – this house has three. The main patio- deck is located just outside the great room sliders – only 3 steps down to patio and 1 step down to the grounds. It’s a large deck. It runs almost the entire width of the house, wrapping around all the way back to the entrance to the mud room.

d Patio Deck

The patio deck has the perfect nook for outdoor tables and chairs. It’s easy to serve meals here – just steps from the kitchen via the mud room or the sliders. And again, the panoramic views. The picture at right is your view from the patio deck table. Just off the deck you’ll find two walkways. They go to the beach and lower deck.

A real “dream house” has to have a real “dream kitchen.” This kitchen is a beautiful, and magical dream. But, it was also designed to be practical and functional. It’s quite large, yet its galley shape puts you within easy reach of everything. The built-in pantry and desk even enhance the convenience. Kitchen wi

The kitchen amenities are

beautiful. Look at the granite counter tops, the wonderful walnut bar top, the custom cabinets, the tile floor, the light fixtures, the wet bar, and the opaque sliding door to the mud room. And the views . The picture on the right shows your view while standing at your kitchen sink . . . a culinary dream.

Many Dinin A popular new, home design trend is to not allocate space for a formal dining room. This waterfront home is a good example. Yet, it has several nice dining options. See the walnut bar in the kitchen set for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. On nice days enjoy lunch, cocktails, or an informal dinner on the patio deck.

If you want to wine or dine while literally hanging out at the beach then the lower deck is THE place. Of course, no mater where you dine here, $1,000,000 + views are always on the menu.

On Cape Cod first-floor master bedroom suites are a must-have for many buyers. This house has a beautiful one – but it’s currently used as a library and sitting room. What a place to read and relax: unobstructed beach and water views, built-in bookcases, a quad bay window with a seat, and the other side of the see-thru gas fireplace.

Floor Bedroom

The doorway that’s literally through the bookcase leads to a huge walk-in closet and then to an ultra modern full bathroom. It features granite counter tops double sinks, spa for two, and tiled walk-in shower.

Zen-like Wate

Along with your garden fountain and sea-side setting, the Zen-inspired inside waterfall is a very elegant way to bring one of nature’s purest elements into your every-day life – water . The captivating sounds of cascading water will rejuvenate your mind and heart. This spectacle of sight and sound will give your home an aura of peaceful calm .

erfall and Lav

Just behind the rounded wall in the foyer is the entrance to the first-floor lav. This is a very functional lav. But, it’s also a statement that reflects the oriental theme of this house. The stone sink sitting on a stone pedestal, the round vase atop a tall wood stand, & the decorative branches – they are all elements of Zen gardens.

House

The guest house was renovated in 2003 when the main house was torn down. It shares a wall with the new main house – but there is no connecting door. The guest house is separate and private. The guest house has two private entrances. The sliders shown here are off a path leading from a gate in the front yard.

Guest House

Guest

A path from the back yard leads to the patio entrance. This third Great Room features a gas fireplace, a cathedral ceiling with skylight, a fully functional kitchen, and a dining area. Your guests will enjoy lounging on the patio where they can watch the boats out on Nantucket Sound. And, of course, the beach is right here too.

House

Just off the great room is a hallway that leads to the full bath and the bedroom – which is big enough for two double beds. This guest house provides your friends and family with comfort found only in high-end hotel suites. It also makes a great summer rental – and you don’t even have to leave. No need to move out for renters.

The Grou

TOC

Now let’s go outside to see the grounds and view the beach. This property is blessed with beautiful views and grounds. They are in perfect harmony with the design theme of the house, and thus exhibit that East meets West flair.

unds

The panoramic picture above was taken from the patio deck . The little thumbnail pictures on the left show some of the flowers and bushes you’ll see in the back yard and along the front and side walkways.

The Grou

The grounds were designed using principles of Zen gardens – often called Japanese rock gardens. They create a stylized landscape through careful placement of rocks, gravel, water fountains, flowers, bushes, pruned trees, and walkways. The front door steps are actually large, shaped stones sitting on a bed of gravel.

unds

The walkway to the front door has wild grasses, flowers, and a water fountain. The fountain is set atop a large grindingmillstone. The water flows into a small pond that is home to several large goldfish. The walkway to the guest house is surrounded with bushes and flowers – and has Nantucket Sound as its water element.

The Grou

The walkway from the Guest House to the beach was made with slate tiles. It also has many beautiful flowers. The major wood element here is the amazingly large piece of surreal driftwood. The grounds are easy to maintain because the ground cover is NOT grass – it’s gravel and low- height plants. So it’s OK to sell your lawn mover.

unds

Rocks and Large wood pieces are also key elements of a Zen garden. Rocks represent mountains – and are focal points when you are meditating. Alignment of the rocks is also very important.

When you are sitting on the patio deck the

large rock shown in the picture at right is perfectly aligned with the large rock at the end of the jetty.

r Deck

On sunny days and warm nights the lower deck is THE place to enjoy a beverage & hors d'oeuvres – and to watch the people on the beach and all the boats out on The Sound. This deck has an end-to-end bench and room for a large table. It also has a large storage box. The views from this deck are just amazing. See the next page.

No need to drive or tow a little red wagon full of food, drink, and your beach gear. Your house is high above the beach – 18 feet. After you live on this beach for awhile the ebb and flow of the tide will become part of your pulse – the daily rhythm of your life on the beach.
