My Fish

I made these pictures in the summer before 6 th grade. I caught these fish in the Three Mile River – about a half mile from my house in Dighton. In the 8 th grade I built a cabin and a dock on an island in the river. In my school years I spent many hours (even days) up and down β€œThe River.” I put each fish on a large piece of construction paper and traced its outline onto the paper with a pencil. I then penciled in by hand the detailed features of the fish. I then colored in each detailed area with ordinary crayons. I saved these pictures for decades and had them framed about 15 years ago. You can see many places where the crayon coloring faded or just dropped away. Yet, it is remarkable that after all these years the condition of these drawings is as good as it is. I cleaned the Bass and the Sunfish and my mother cooked them for dinner. I went back to the river and gave the Pickerel to some men who were fishing there for their dinner.
