My Fish
20 x 10 3/4
11 1/4 x 10 3/4
27 1/2 x 10 3/4
I made these pictures in the summer before 6 th grade. I caught these fish in the Three Mile River – about a half mile from my house in Dighton. In the 8 th grade I built a cabin and a dock on an island in the river. In my school years I spent many hours (even days) up and down “The River.” I put each fish on a large piece of construction paper and traced its outline onto the paper with a pencil. I then penciled in by hand the detailed features of the fish. I then colored in each detailed area with ordinary crayons. I saved these pictures for decades and had them framed about 15 years ago. You can see many places where the crayon coloring faded or just dropped away. Yet, it is remarkable that after all these years the condition of these drawings is as good as it is. I cleaned the Bass and the Sunfish and my mother cooked them for dinner. I went back to the river and gave the Pickerel to some men who were fishing there for their dinner.
Sports Heros
The painting on the left is the official Larry Bird retirement picture. The artist who painted it was Allen Hackney. There were 1,000 copies – this is # 852. I attended Larry Bird’s retirement ceremony thanks to tickets given to me by my dentist Dr. Guen. My wife Doreen bought the picture as a gift for me. The picture on the right was taken live (1/19/2002) at the end of the famous “Tuck Rule” game that led to the New England Patriots first Super Bowl championship. This picture was given to me by a buyer client from Kent England who bought a waterfront house in Great Sand Lakes. 30 1/4 x 25 27 x 23
Photoshoped Photos
In the early 1990’s I published a magazine: “ Software Quality World . An issue published in 1993 introduced a software quality methodology based on Fractals and the Deming Optimization strategy. Using Photoshop I created the cover for this issue featuring the famous Mandelbrot Set fractal. This copy was signed by W. Edwards Deming . The picture on the right is an idealized, heavily Photoshoped, view of the Shop Ahoy plaza in Chatham. It is the home of one of my favorite breakfast restaurants: Larry's PX . 25 x 30 1/4 23 x 27
New York Stock Exchange
Over a period ranging from 1997-1999 I spent several months consulting at the New York Stock Exchange (Wall Street) and its IT subsidiary SIAC (Brooklyn). I was able to arrange a tour of the stock exchange floor for Doreen and Pam. This was a very rare treat, seldom granted to the public, and almost never to families of employees. My wife bought this picture for me in a small shop off Wall Street. It shows the floor of the New York Stock Exchange in what I think is the late 1800’s.

Smasher the Crasher Car
12 x 5
In the summer after 7 th grade, a friend showed us a new game. The idea was to take a toy truck or car and tie a wire to one side of the car so that you could spin it around in a circle. The car had to meet certain dimensions. To play the game, two kids would spin their cars in a counter-clockwise circle . . . and get closer and closer until the two vehicles collided. The one with the least damage was the winner. My friend Mike and I watched several contests. Mike (who got a degree in Physics from M.I.T.) designed our new car. I build it and painted it and ran it in the contests. We named it “ Smasher ” and it never lost . After destroying several of our friend’s toy cars & trucks, no one would compete against us anymore. I felt sorry for the kids who cried and lost their toys. We retired Smasher and I still have it.
Kid Art

The picture on the left was given to me by my daughter Pam. She painted it in her 5 th grade art class.
The picture on the right was given to me by my niece Pierson (really my First Cousin Twice Removed In Law). She painted it in her 4 th grade art class. Thanks girls!
Camp Art
2 1/2 x 1 1/4
9 1/2 x 11 1/2
12 1/4 x 13 1/4
For a number of summers during her 7 th grade to 10 th grade years my daughter Pam attended Cape Cod Sea Camps in Brewster. Each summer they had arts & crafts workshops where she made these three pieces. The Sailboat and the “ Mushroom ” involved carpentry and painting. The Cat in the middle was made of clay and is still hard as a rock after all these years. COVID seems to have brought an end to Cape Cod Sea Camps. This is a great loss for all the girls and boys who spend their summers on Cape Cod.
Bernadette
6 x 4 1/2
5 x 7
OK, I agree, the picture on the left looks like it was painted by a not-so-talented 3rd grader. Alas, I was the “artist” that painted this masterpiece - several years ago. Despite the result, I was proud and happy with it. I painted it in a one-hour, adult art class taught by the amazing Bernadette Waystack. Bernadette has moved on to work and teach at her own art studio at The 204 in Harwich. The picture on the right is her own work, and a kind gift from Bernadette. She is a gift for all art lovers on Cape Cod. www.bernadettewaystack.com
