Personal Disclosure Just for the record

I was baptized a Catholic. I was an alter boy from age 8 – 18. I went to a Catholic high school and a Catholic college. My wife and I were married in a Catholic church. The name Silver is a common Jewish name, but in my case, it came from my great grandfather who was Portuguese and was born in the Azores. I have now, and in the past, many dear friends who are Jewish and other religious denominations.

Religious Freedom

Religious Freedom means that people who believe in a religion have the right to practice those beliefs without persecution from any government or any other religion. Religious Freedom also means freedom from other people’s religion.

OPAVE treats all religions the same.

Religious Pain

Laws based on A Religion PAIN Others

In the U. S. some religions have L arge numbers of members, while others have S mall numbers of members. Believers in a Religion with a large number of members sometimes champion laws that causes great PAIN to believers of other Religions that have fewer members – thus forcing their religious beliefs on other religions. When passing laws, the plurality of a religion should not be a major factor. The key factor that should be optimized is the PAIN the law may cause people of any religion.

This thinking will be applied to all issues analyzed by OPAVE.

Radical Religions Inflict Great PAIN On Others

Some members of some religions believe that anyone who does not believe in their religion should be converted or killed.

Recent examples:

The attack by dictatorial Hamas on democratic Israel

Threats by Islamic radicals to shoot people at concerts
