Morphing NATO into IDEAL

1

The Value of NATO

The N orth A tlantic T reaty O rganization is a hallmark of success in preventing WARS! Since its formation in 1949 no country has ever declared or started a war with a NATO country. NATO countries did respond to 9/11, and did help Turkey during the Gulf war, and Ukraine after the attack by Russia. Given threats of attack from Russia, Finland and Sweden shocked Putin by joining NATO. That was a great setback for him and his evil plans. The most effective way to deal with the dictators of the world is for the democracies to show united strength. The best way to do this is to unite the democracies of the world. Let’s morph . . . NATO into IDEAL

Like Turkey, the last 4 countries are “Hybrid” nations. They should be encouraged and helped to improve their Democracy Index score. But they are important allies and should be invited to join IDEAL .

6

IDEAL ACTIONS

If all these countries were members of IDEAL it would have 77 members!

If any member is attacked, then every member would render all the help they can to their attacked member country. This might include:

Declare WAR on the attacking country!

Send troupes and/or military supplies!

Deploy economic sanctions!

Try to remove the Dictator!

Threaten sanctions on countries that help Dictators!

North Korea 1.08 165

South Korea 8.03 24

If Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and South Korea were in IDEAL these Dictators would think long and hard before starting a war with them.

8

IDEAL Policies

IDEAL should start out with all the NATO policies, but then encourage members to suggest changes that would help make IDEAL more ideal .

Dictators that sincerely believe their country would be better as a democracy should be allowed to join IDEAL as a “potential” member. IDEAL should change the NATO rule requiring 100% of its members to agree with every decision. Getting 77 nations to agree is just too difficult. Instead change the required agreement percentage to 90%

9

IDEAL SUMMARY

Yes, IDEAL is really a bigger NATO. Yet, it should do even more to foster peace. It should help countries raise their Democracy Index score. And, where possible, even remove a dictator. Sceptics may say that it is impossible for a total dictatorship that has never seen any democracy and has an autocratic religious authority to become a true democracy. But they are WRONG because it has been done before. We know how to do it. See the PEACE content titled “Regime Change” . Lastly, we know that “ Isolationism ” & “Pacifism ” & “ Pandering to Dictators ” are Catalysts For WAR
