PEACE The Case For Democracy
This Slide Show presents the case why people are so much better off living in a democracy
The Case for Democracy
Carl Marx, the founder of Communism, cited two major flaws with Democracies:
Democracies can never achieve equitable distribution of wealth!
Democracies can never achieve equitable civil rights!
1
Let’s Look at the Data
For almost all countries today we know their democracy rating and group:
Full – Flawed – Hybrid – Dictatorship
Let’s see how these groups rank with:
Distribution of Wealth
Median Income
Civil Rights
Death via Dictators

GINI INDEX
The GINI INDEX measures Income Distribution across a population.
It was developed by the Italian statistician Corrado Gini in 1912.
It is still seen as the leading gauge of economic equality in a nation.
The INDEX ranges from 1 to 0
1 Implies that ONE person owns everything
0 Implies perfect equality -> every person owns the same
So, the LOWER the score the better!

The results are close, but MARX would be shocked to see that the Democracies have the most equitable distribution of wealth.
11
Median National Income
Distribution of Wealth is important, but the size of the wealth is also important. A smaller slice of a big pie might be better than a bigger slice of a small pie.
Median Income is defined as the income level of a household in a specific demographic area (in this case Nations) where half the households earn More and half earn Less . This important economic indicator provides insight into the financial health of a nation. We know the Median National Income of almost all countries.

This data would make Marx hide in the closet. He would be apoplectic to know that the Median Income for a Full Democracy is 25 times more than his beloved Dictatorships.
17
Civil Liberties
1 of the 5 topics that make up the
Democracy Index
Civil liberties are fundamental rights and freedoms that protect individuals from undue government interference. Money and wealth are important, but they are not that important if your government restricts what you can do with it, or if you are in jail.
Let’s see how nations do on this critical issue.

Maybe Marx didn’t care about Civil Liberties, but the people who live every country sure do. Looking at this data we have to feel very sorry for anyone living in a Dictatorship .

Death Via Dictators
Dictators are Egomaniacs . They want to expand their empires in order aggrandize their ego. They care little about all the people they murder in the countries they attack. But, more important to the people who live in a dictatorship, their dictator doesn't care about them or how many of them die in the dictator’s wars of ego. NOTE: The deaths counts shown in the following slide are highly accepted Estimates . They only represent the deaths of people in the dictator’s country. They do not include all the deaths in the countries that the dictator attacked.
